A substantial part of a former council housing site was redeveloped, with one part using a conventional street layout and the other a Home Zone. The latter attracted mixed responses from those who responded to surveys in 2007 and 2010. Views on parking, for example, were polarised, rather than neutral.
Despite residents' uncertainty about the Home Zone approach, Bentleys Meadow is a good, if small, example of the concept. The juxtaposition between conventional and Home Zone almost won the redevelopment a place on the cover of Manual for Streets.
Parking provision takes the form of spaces behind, beside and in front of the dwellings, with limited opportunities to park awkwardly without obstructing through traffic.
On street parking is parallel and right angled, and some properties have on plot hardstandings.
