When it comes to home owners, curtilage parking is probably the most popular solution. Furthermore, few residents are worried about having more parking space than they normally need. Green Lane, a very well landscaped late 1990s development, accommodates generous on plot parking areas behind mature frontage hedges. In the main, these are big houses in big plots, and occupiers are very satisfied.
Opposition to the 'wasteful use of land' associated with generous driveways may be merely ideological, if the development itself is intended to be at the lower end of the density scale. But we would certainly be looking for permeable paving or other on plot soakage in the SuDS world of today.
Green Lane also includes an impressive terrace that addresses an internal roundabout. There, the frontage parking court is also well screened.
The frontage parking court benefits from mature screening.
