Elliot Court is a private gated development, built in the mid 1990s on surplus care home land at the end of a recently constructed cul-de-sac. All but one of the dwellings are in the main block, with car barns and open parking close to the entrance gates. A walled area for visitor parking is immediately adjacent to the gates.
This approach to parking provision has allowed the main block to enclose a high quality communal space.
As well as accommodating cars, some car barns are now incorporating storage areas. Multiple car barns can be quite attractive, and contextually appropriate in suburban and rural areas.

If the reasonable parking needs of residents and their visitors can be met away from the dwellings, communal space for leisure can be provided. Residents of Elliot Court seem to be very happy with the layout.
