There are other ways of preventing footway overhang, and it is not clear why the blue roundels are included, but at least the bollards are not plastic.

Simplicity reduces the scope for damage to individual elements, and maximises the space available for parking.

Footway crossings can be much better access junctions for small to medium groups of housing, especially where pedestrian traffic is high.

Despite the irresponsible parking of a few residents, the central play space is very well used.
